Pasadena-Mishima Summer Youth Program
The Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute together with Mirai Nihongo Gakuin are happy to announce their 15th Annual Friendship 2017 Summer Youth Exchange Program. The purpose of the Friendship programs is to bring youth from the cities of Pasadena and Mishima, Japan together to share life experiences and to develop an increased understanding of our two cultures.
This year, 10 young teens from Mishima will visit Pasadena from July 30th thru August 6th for a weeklong program highlighted by Angels baseball, Universal Studios, the Battleship USS Iowa, the California Science Center and the Space Shuttle Endeavor, Little Tokyo and a farewell party. Friendship 2017 is open to young teens who are interested in meeting students from Mishima and who have in interest in Japan and Japanese culture.
Started in 2002, the Friendship Summer Youth Program has hosted young people from Mishima on alternating years and has taken Pasadena area students to Japan for relationship building and cultural education.
