PJCI Manzanar Pilgrimage
This year marked a first as the PJCI board chartered a bus and took more than 40 members on a three hour ride to the 42nd Annual Manzanar Pilgrimage on April 30th. Upon arrival, the bus drove up to the ceremony area where everyone sat in folding chairs provided by the PJCI and enjoyed a bento lunch. Following lunch was the Pilgrimage Ceremony, which included taiko drummers, speakers, an interfaith religious service, and a traditional Japanese Ondo community dance. Everyone offered incense at the memorial obelisk, followed by guided walking tours of the grounds and a visit to the Interpretive Center to see a variety of items on display.
